April 2016~
Principal Shiratori Yasushi

It is the start of 2019, the 4th year since I became the principal of this school. A cooperation agreement between the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education and the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology was finalized last month, and research and development of the "High School Joint Education Program" will begin starting with this school. Details of the implementation will be expanded upon this year, and we will proceed to trial introduction and full-scale implementation starting next year. In the future, with the aim of fostering a culture of active researchers on the forefronts of the world, we will continue to work together this year as a staff body.

Last year was the second year of our second phase of being a Super Science High School (SSH), and the first year being classified as an academic college advancement focused high school, we focused on science and technology education, science and mathematics education, English language education, university education, and so on. For research activities, in the High School Chemistry Grand Contest in October, we received both the Head Judge Prize and the Daiichi Sankyo Prize, and in the patent contest held in December, we received both the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Academic Policy Director’s Award and the Excellence Award. As a result of the great efforts of 2018 class’ students through their three years of scientific research and normal classes, they were able to achieve their career hope by refining their thinking, judgment and expressiveness, and as a result of all that, 45 people passed national public universities. Including past years’ students, a total of 54 of our students have entered national public universities this year. Some graduate students have also entered medical school medical departments. We hope they will continue research with an open and inquisitive mind at their respective universities, and continue aiming for our school’s goal: “The Scientists and Engineers of Tomorrow”.

In conclusion, this year, we will see the school’s tenth anniversary. Building upon the great efforts of those that have come before us, we will strive to improve the school and further, and together make great leaps and bounds into the research of the future.
